In order to access the application, you will be asked to create a user account in Embark (if you do not have one already). You will be prompted to enter a user name and password and provide a valid email address.
This will give you the option to save and continue your application at a later date, as well as the ability to check the status of your recommendations or transcripts after you have submitted your application. Please be aware that once you click submit, you will not be able to make any changes to your application. After submitting your application, make sure you receive a confirmation email verifying that your application has been successfully submitted.
Before you begin, The Carter Center strongly encourages you to review a sample blank application (PDF).
Please be prepared to provide the following required components:
-Contact information
-Two short essays (350 words each)
-A resume (PDF)
-A short, pertinent writing sample, preferably an academic paper five pages or less (PDF)
-Two (2) recommendations. Be prepared to provide the names and email addresses of two references. They will be sent a system-generated email asking them to upload a confidential recommendation letter directly to our system. Please ask your references to check their spam/junk folder if they have not received the email. Letters of recommendation are due within one week of the application deadline.
-Official transcripts may be mailed in a sealed envelope to the address below and postmarked by the application deadline. Many universities also offer secure, official, electronic copies of transcripts. Transcripts submitted in this way should be emailed to EducationalPrograms@cartercenter.org.
