With accreditation from Lebanon's Ministry of the Interior and Municipalities, The Carter Center dispatched six long-term observers to Lebanon in March to monitor the electoral process leading to parliamentary elections on June 7, 2009.
These observers have been witnessing the issuance of identification cards and revision of voter lists, electoral preparations and administration, campaign finance, the campaign environment, and access to the political process in the critical run up to the vote.
Who are these observers and what do they do in the field prior to election day? Join long term observers Roger Bryant and Marwa Alkhairo on the ground as they share their experiences in personal essays.
