Guinea’s upcoming runoff presidential election between candidates Cellou Dalein Diallo and Alpha Condé is critical to both the country’s stability and that of the West African region.
Recognizing the importance of this electoral process, The Carter Center has maintained its presence in Guinea since May 2010, with long-term observers deployed throughout the country and reporting back to the Center on electoral preparations and developments.
For the upcoming runoff election, currently set for Oct. 24, the Center will again send a delegation of 30 observers.
