Its staff of 150 includes experts working to control and eradicate diseases, diminish the stigma against mental illness, strengthen democracy, advance human rights, and improve development planning.

MEDIA ACCREDITATION AND POOL ACCESS: The Centro de Prensa Internacional is organizing, with The Carter Center, logistics for media coverage. Much of the delegation's activities will be limited to coverage by a rotating traveling media pool. An international pool will be coordinated at CPI, where a press center is being set up. All registered media will have access to pool material as well as to live broadcast feeds provided by CPI. Please contact CPI for information on pool costs, media registration, and feed schedule: Phone (537) 832-0526, 27, 28; Fax (537) 33 3836.

CARTER CENTER MEDIA CONTACT: Deanna Congileo, director of public information for The Carter Center, will have an office at the press center for this event in CPI. Also working for The Carter Center at the press center will be Larry Register, a consultant on media logistics, and press assistant Victoria Wigodsky. Deanna's cell phone in Cuba, beginning Friday,
May 10, will be: (537) 880-4366.

ONE-ON-ONE INTERVIEWS: There may be a very limited number of one-on-one interviews with delegation members near the end of the trip. Ms. Congileo will contact select media outlets to discuss those possibilities. Please do not call her about one-on-one requests, but you can e-mail her at: thecartercenter@yahoo.com.
