With former U.S. President Jimmy Carter's visit to support the process of national dialogue in July 2002, The Carter Center began a two and a half year cycle of continuous activities in Venezuela. The Center's activities continued until August 2004, the date of the presidential recall referendum, and drew to a close in February 2005, with the monitoring of the post electoral environment.
"The Carter Center and the Peacebuilding Process in Venezuela, June 2002 - February 2005," ("El Centro Carter y el Proceso de Construccion de Paz en Venezuela, Junio 2002 - Febrero 2005"), below, records the contributions of the Center to the peacebuilding process in Venezuela and complements the Carter Center's "Comprehensive Report on Observing the Venezuela Presidential Recall Referendum" (PDF) ("Observacion del Referendo Revocatorio Presidencial en Venezuela: Informe Integral" (PDF).
